Learning

Curriculum & Academics

What curriculum does WOLIS offer?
Lower and middle school utilise a carefully sourced mix of Ugandan, American, British and Asian curricula to deliver a Christian Education outcome. High school (Grades 9–12) follows the Cambridge Curriculum, with students sitting IGCSE and GCE examinations.
What are the curriculum foundations?

Imago Dei (Genesis 1–3) — All learners and stakeholders are image bearers of God and His representatives to their fellow man and to the creation entrusted to them.

Excellentia (Ex. 31; 1 Cor. 10:31; Col 3:23) — All learners, with differentiation, can develop and reach their God-given potential in academics and co-curricular activities, unto His praise.

Parental Involvement — We recognise the parent as the God-given primary educator of the learner. The school engages the parent in the decision-making process (Proverbs 1:8,9; Psalm 127:3).

Can a WOLIS student integrate into the national curriculum?
The WOLIS curriculum is flexible to allow learners to switch to the national or other international schools. Learners are not subjected to PLE or its equivalent. We advise those interested in this path to exit at the end of Grade 5.
Will my child qualify to go to a Ugandan university after studying at WOLIS?
Yes. Many of our former students are successfully enrolled in local universities where they go on to do quite well.
What languages are taught at WOLIS?
WOLIS offers French up to Grade 10. Families interested in other foreign languages or French at A-Level must find alternatives outside of WOLIS.
How much technology is integrated into students' learning?
WOLIS is actively increasing technological integration in classroom instruction to improve the learning experience. This is a journey we are committed to and continue to develop.
What else does WOLIS offer besides academics?
WOLIS affirms that the child is a whole person whose every faculty must be developed. Students engage in physical education, skilling, sports clubs, and weekly intentional discipleship through Chapel and Bible clubs. We also offer East Africa Model United Nations (EAMUN), Spoken Word, theme-based camps, career guidance, and a fully-fledged counselling department.
Finances

Fees & Payments

What is the WOLIS fees structure?
Please see the full 2026 fees structure on our Admissions page. Fees are billed per term and vary by grade level. New parents pay both tuition and resource fees upon admission.
When should I pay tuition fees?
60% of tuition fees must be paid by the start of the school term and the remaining 40% by midterm. Students will not be allowed to sit exams without fulfilling payment requirements.
What is a resource fee?
This is a mandatory annual payment (USD 250 or USD 350 depending on grade level) that covers the purchase of course resources. Resources are added to a pool for the entire WOLIS community to benefit from. Students may receive workbooks for personal use, but the bulk of resources are kept in the classroom or library for current and future students. WOLIS provides an international curriculum at a heavily subsidised cost, and this is one way we manage costs.
What is a development fund/fee?
This is an annual payment by every WOLIS student that facilitates building and renovation projects on the Word of Life property.
What do I do if I have questions about tuition or other fees?
Write to oliveasiimwe@wolis.net with your query or visit the accounts office physically on the Word of Life property.

Wellbeing

Health & Safety

What if my child falls sick while at school?
Word of Life provides first aid for mild injuries, stomach aches, headaches, and muscle pains after careful assessment in liaison with parents. Parents may be contacted to pick up their child in cases of more serious injury or sickness. Emergencies are handled on a case-by-case basis — a student may be rushed to a nearby hospital at the family's expense if necessary.
What if my child is ready to return to school but has not finished their medication?
Students' medication can be signed in with the first aid team, and the class teacher will be notified to remind the child to take it. Careful instructions must be written on medicines to prevent over- or under-dosing.
